In Governor Rick Perry’s words “well done you are saving young lives” and that makes it all worth it; close to one hundred kids, volunteers and dignitaries including representatives from Lt. Governor’s office, Rep. Carlos Uresti and Senator Van de Putte’s office were there to honor and praise the children who put their hearts into a letter to their friend discouraging them from drugs, gangs and alcohol. Kids from San Antonio, lower Rio Grande Valley and Starr County traveled hundreds of miles to be recognized by Governor Perry. Eli Guerra, founder of Karate Kids “Just Say NO!” to drugs, gangs and alcohol, presented Gov. Perry with a Samurai sword, a symbol of which together and in unity we shall conquer and cut away drug, gang and alcohol abuse from our children‘s lives. The children presented Gov. Perry with a dozen roses for First Lady Anita Perry and one yellow rose for our First Lady, our yellow rose of Texas; Gov. Perry presented Eli and kids with a proclamation proclaiming the month of May as Karate Kids of America “Just Say NO!”. |
